Young as I was, I had always dreamed of Mentoring Aspiring aviators in diverse careers in the aviation industry.
That started when I was a young pilot with the Ghana Airways, and went into partnership with one Mr. Victor Gorman (A Travel Consultant and Aircraft Dispatcher) now based in the United States of America, decided to establish a training school which gave tuition provision for those who were going to write for certificates in Travel and Tourism, Airline Marketing, Airline Customer Service, and Hotel Management courses.
The training school, GORAM Hospitality and Aviation Training Institute (GHATI) started on 1st July 2001 with a humble two classroom with one office space at Adabraka, in Accra.
The first two years saw normal growth, and in 2003, the progress demanded an expansion that led to its relocation, owing to inadequate classroom space. We relocated to a bigger space on the Ring Road Central, Asylum Down and our Progress was growing steadily. We also achieved the Ghana Education Service (GES) accreditation as a private school tuition provider.
In 2005 there was restructuring changing its status of sole proprietorship to a private limited liability company that called for a lot of changes in our training and Corporate Governance systems.
The name of the company was changed to Centre for Aviation and Hospitality Management (CAHM) that brought new directors on board to spearhead the affairs of the company.
In 2008 the company’s activities called for a new strategy on four thematic areas setting up the parent company. That led to CAHM suspending its operations and melted into a parent company called Kilo Alpha Aviation Holdings Limited in 2009. It was set up to be the parent company to manage the sub-companies and also offer various consultancy solutions in the industry.
In the same year 2009, it had its events department by name Felvic Aviation Events Limited. That was to showcase the aviation industry through clubs and events.
From the 15th to 19 June 2009 our maiden event, International Air-law for Lawyers drew lawyers from non-aviation sectors to imbibe in them, insight into legal issues that can affect their clients in the aviation industry and how they can defend them. It was in collaboration with the International Air-transport Association (IATA) facilitated by their Senior Legal Counsel, Mr Michael Gill.
The operations grew from strength to strength with the evolution of its administration.
We have come a long way from 2001 to date. I must say at this juncture that we had to Shuffle directors as and when for our restructuring to meet the standard of the aviation industry.
As the founder, and vision courier we’re continuing strategizing for what is best for the company.
From our founder Commander Victor Kwasi Amoah
